Your quick win

Click your picture again and pick your other profile. You now have Work and Home.

Lesson 1: Make a Work profile

  1. Step 1: Open Chrome.

  2. Step 2: Click your profile picture (top right).

  3. Step 3: Click Add Chrome profile.

  4. Step 4: Sign in with your work email, or keep going without an account.

  5. Step 5: Type a name, like “Work”.

    Pick a colour.

  6. Step 6: A new window opens in your Work colour.

Lesson 2: Search from the address bar

Click the long box at the top. Type a question, like “plumber Geelong hours”. Press Enter. Tip: you can type a website too, like abc.net.au.

Lesson 3: Save a website to your bookmarks bar

Go to a site you use a lot. Click the star in the address bar. Choose Bookmarks bar. Click Done. Can’t see the strip? Press Ctrl + Shift + B (Windows) or ⌘ + Shift + B (Mac).

Lesson 4: Let Chrome remember a password

Log in to a website. When Chrome offers to save the password, click Save. Next time it fills it in for you. Only do this on your own computer.

Lesson 5: Keep Chrome up to date

Chrome usually updates by itself when you close and reopen it. To check: click the three dots (top right), then Help, then About Google Chrome. If you see Relaunch, click it. Chrome closes, opens again, and your tabs come back. No Relaunch button? You’re already up to date.
