Lesson 1: Find it and claim it
Step 1: Log in to your Google account (a business one is best).
Step 2: Open Google Maps.
Search your business name and suburb.
Step 3: Found it?
Click it, then look for a button like Claim this business or Manage now.
Step 4: Not there?
Go to business.google.com/add and click Add your business to Google.
Step 5: Fill in your business name, type and phone number.
Follow the steps on screen.
Lesson 2: Prove it’s you (verify)
Google picks how you prove it. You can’t choose. It might be a phone call, a text, an email or a video. Pick the one shown and follow the steps. Sometimes Google asks for more than one.
Lesson 3: Fix your hours and details
Search your business on Google. Click Edit profile. Click Hours. Set your hours for each day. Save. Check your phone, website and description too.
Lesson 4: Add photos
On your profile, look for the photos option. Add your shopfront or sign, your work or food, and you or your team. Bright and clear is best. No filters.
Lesson 5: Reply to a review
Go to your profile. Click Read reviews. Next to a review, click Reply. Say thanks and keep it short. Click Reply to post it. You need to be verified first.
